Wild Travellers

I love taking the scenic route. As a child my sisters and I would always make fun of dad when he meandered through dirt tracks which took three times as long to get home after camping. Now I enjoy the process; actually I plan the time so that I can stop and enjoy the lookout, the scenery, the history and the buildings. Of course that is just the excuse…the real joy comes with meeting new people and hearing their stories. In art circles it is called ‘connection to place’ and this concept informs all my artwork from paintings to pottery.

So when my friend and I were driving back from a WOW festival last weekend we stopped to meander through the small towns of regional CQ. And our adventures turned out to be entertaining, enriching and educational. So I suggested we document our travels, with pictures, narrative and anecdotes. Thus the ‘wild travellers’ blog was born…
